Maternity and Children Health Programme Kanpur

The reason for difficulties facing the society today is the constant increase in population. For controlling this and for the protection of mother – child, maternity and children health programme has been organised by the State Government. In the district of Kanpur, the Chief Medical Officer sponsored the maternity and children health programme organised by Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti. The aim of the programme in six slum areas was to reduce the rate of death of mother – child and to reduce the death rate of newly born babies due to dangerous diseases. In the camp mother and child were intensively examined in which malnutrition was found in both, because the condition of citizens living in these slum areas was not good. Who should be held responsible for this? In this camp 1200 patients were examined and free medicines were made available to them. The tablets of Vitamin A and B were distributed free of cost to pregnant ladies. In this camp the disease named anemia was found. Kanpur being an industrial area abounds in diseases. Keeping this fact in view, of the beneficiaries present in the crowd were made aware about the instructions according to the complete cleanliness drive.

Maternity and Children Health Programme Muradabad

Under Maternity and Children Health programme the beneficiaries living in 12 slum areas below the poverty line in the district Muradabad were vaccinated for the protection of the newly born babies against fatal diseases. In the camp the pregnant ladies were checked up free of cost by the specialist lady doctors. In the women camp a small meeting/seminar was also organised in which information was given about the diseases and their protection during pregnancy stage by lady doctors.

An elaborate discussion was held for the beneficiaries present in connection with breast feeding of newly born babies and for their looking after. In the RCH camps about 2200 patients were checked up free of cost. Startling facts were projected before the residents of these areas during the course of the programme, certain ladies have 15 – 16 children amongst the residents of these areas. For lack of proper care these are on the brink of death and T.B., Malaria diseases were detected after their examination in these ladies. Who is responsible for this? The beneficiaries were immediately shifted by the organisation to the district hospital because their proper care could not be taken in the camp.

National Rural Health Mission Farukhabad

Under the National Rural Health Mission, 153 Aasha Bahoo were selected in the District of Farukhabad. In this selection only those women were selected who resided in the same village Panchayat. This has been the main aim of the programme: to fulfill the basic health needs of the women of Rural Areas. The Aasha Bahoos of the area were imparted training at the district level. After the training they were entrusted with the task of making available their services to their own village Panchayat. The Aasha Bahoos of the area were provided with necessary funds to pick - up and drop the women beneficiaries to the Primary Health Centre. The tablets of Iron Colid Acid be provided to the Aasha Bahoos for distribution to the pregnant ladies for giving birth because the cause of death of most of the mother and child was unsafe methods of giving birth at home.

Nationa Rural Health Mission Kannauj

Under the National Rural Health Mission scheme in the district of Kannauj there would be necessity of ‘stop’ for women workers to run the above scheme. Therefore in each Village Panchayat Aasha was selected. That is why selection was made in every Village Panchayat from the block of Village Panchayat. After selection according to the rules of the government, training was imparted and a certificate was distributed. They were advised to be ever ready for rendering services to their respective Village Panchayats for which there is a provision for giving the standard expenses according to the rules by the incharge PHC.

After operation there was a follow up of the patients for 3 days in which no patient faced any difficulty for any reason. After the follow up the bandage of the beneficiaries was opened and they were provided with sun glasses free of cost so that there could be protection of their eyes from the dust. In this camp the patients were operated by fixing I. O. L. lenses.

AIDS awareness

A seminar / awareness programme was organized at the crossing of Baradevi against AIDS by the organization for AIDS awareness in which 65 tempo drivers 25 rickshaw pullers were made aware, simultaneously they were also asked questions about AIDS and free condoms were distributed to them on getting the right reply. It was brought to light during the programme that the lower strata of the society were victims of this despite having knowledge about it. Why? Who is responsible for this? Social atmosphere or they themselves?

Due to excessive load of work, the present generation has to go out of the house and due to their distancing themselves from the family and indulgence in sexual activities, the danger of AIDS increases on account of ignorance, knowingly or unknowingly to check this. We have to be faithful to our life partner. So, the danger of AIDS can be minimized in our life. The specialist also advised the same thing.
